Blackjack: High/Low Card Counting System Basics
The most basic and popular technique in counting cards is the high/low card counting system. Blackjack beginners should learn first the high/low card counting system before jumping on to the more complex variations of card counting systems.
In the high/low card counting system, all cards in the deck have the following point values:
- All face cards and Aces have the point value of -1 and they are all 20 in one deck. - All cards with values seven, eight, and nine have the point value of zero and they are all 12 in one deck. - All cards with values two, three, four, five, and six have the point value of one and they are all 16 in one deck.
The counting system of high/low card counting system is known as the balanced systems because the sum is zero when you add them all up. When doing the high/low card counting system, you must add the point value of each drawn card from the deck including the dealer's cards inside your head. Because the blackjack dealer is fast in the job, then you must also learn to do high/low card counting system very fast to keep up with each drawn card.
The first thing to do in the high/low card counting system is to practice your brain how to count. This is not an easy workout and you need to spend hours, days, and weeks practicing high/low card counting system to be an expert.
Always carry a deck of cards with you and then shuffle, cut, and set them in a face down manner on a table. Have a stopwatch at hand and time yourself while practicing the high/low card counting system. Flip each card over as fast as possible and keep track of the count using the point values of the high/low card counting system.
When all the cards of the deck are counted, the sum should be zero and if you don't get zero, continue practicing the high/low card counting system until you're good at it. You are already ready to face the real blackjack table if you are able to count a deck of cards within 25 to 30 seconds using the high/low card counting system.
This is the betting strategy for the high/low card counting system:
- Balance of less than one, the bet should be flat. - Balance of two to three, the bet should be doubled. - Balance of four to five, the bet should be tripled. - Balance of six to seven, the bet should be quadrupled. - Balance of eight or more, the bet should be quintupled.
